OBJECTIVES

The designer is the first person we think of when we talk about fashion, the one who conceives the collection and dreams up the clothing. Creativity alone, however, is not enough if it cannot be transformed into value which occurs through the organisation of the product development process.

Inside the design and product office, professionals work closely with one another in guiding the various phases of the collection clothing: from the conception of the outfit prototype that will be featured on the runway through production.

Pursuing a career in fashion coordination means knowing all the secrets that bring the magic of a collection to life, knowing how to speak with both the creative and technical people and knowing how to work with the marketing and sales area so that the collection has a strong market impact.

CAREER EXAMPLES

Conception of a mood requires the work of research experts, or Cool Hunters, who identify trends and suggest starting points and themes for the collection. Working along with the designer in creating the various lines for the collection are the Graphic Designers, or the individuals that design the clothing down to the specific details, mostly through the use of sophisticated software, and choose materials and colours.

In addition, there are also production operations professionals, pattern-makers, cutters and garment makers, as well as production and quality technicians.

Finally, there are the professionals who coordinate all of this work toward a final result, who follow the product in its journey from creation to sale, key roles in developing and continually improving the collection. These are the collection coordinators.

Specifically, the course aims to develop professional figures such as Fashion Graphic Designer, Fashion Coordinator, Buyer, Research Coordinator and Production Technician.
