Nikola Petrovic, an Accademia del Lusso student in Belgrade, achieved first place in the lingerie category of the international fashion competition The Link. The competition is part of the ComON project, whose objective is to promote young talents from various sectors, among which fashion and design. The competition is integrated into the event Mare di Moda, the international exhibition dedicated to fabrics as well as to lingerie and seaside accessories in Cannes.
Nikola passed the first selection stages by sending off a few sketches; then, after having received the fabrics and creating his products, he took part in a training week in Como, Italy, where he visited fabric laboratories and manufacturers. Following this, Nikola participated in the event in Cannes with his own stand, exceeding students from the Accademia delle Belle Arti, Saint Martins College of Art and Fashion, London College of Fashion and others. All costs were covered by the organizers of the competition.
Nikola has had an extraordinary opportunity and through effort and passion has succeeded in making the most of it. For a young man who is emerging into the world of fashion, being able to meet young people from other nationalities and participate in a week with ComON as well as in our exhibition has been a great learning experience, both from a professional and personal point of view.
Nikola will have the opportunity to undertake an internship in the styling office of the Parah company, as well as a prize of 1000 euros from Mare di Moda.
Furthermore, he will have the opportunity to catwalk a mini collection of beachwear or lingerie in the next edition of Mare d’Amare – Florence, taking place in July 2014.
